The Truth
The Full Story
Most people have to wait until the death of parents or grandparents to learn the reality of life’s fragility. For me (BMP) that was at 19 y/o when my friend Alexander Paul lost control of his bowels and bladder and collapsed on the floor due to a stage 4 tumour that had been growing on his brain.
Neither the NHS, treatment in Germany or alternative medicines were enough to prevent him from having a seizure which ultimately ended his life at 21 y/o.
This raw sight of peer mortality at such a young age pushed me to think about how I, someone who will never hold an MD or other scientific qualification, could play an active, meaningful part in the mission to improve healthcare outcomes at scale.
It is the focal experience around which my understanding of the too-often bleak reality of health and wellbeing revolves.
BMP exists to uncover stories in…… and ensure that we all become more educated and aware of the world of healthcare and wellbeing one story and point of view at a time.
That’s where the greatest lessons are to be learned. And that’s what Blue Mountain Press is about. The greatest stories come with a lot of pain. Finding those stories and giving them the space and the life and the form they deserve as they naturally benefit the collective. It’s about crafting those human experiences into a form that can move the needle.
